Financial Aid Rules

By applying for AMTC financial aid, you are agreeing to the following terms, advice, and restrictions.

Note: AMTC and its administrative team understand that any individual or family can experience financial challenges and hardships. Our financial aid program is intended for financially challenged individuals with exceptional talent or modeling potential and/or an exceptional life story. Financial aid is not intended for anyone who has the ability to pay the reasonable fees for AMTC.

Thousands of hopeful and talented people from all over the world apply for AMTC financial aid. AMTC considers each and every individual who applies, but competition is keen and funds are limited. Approximately 10% of our Contestants receive financial aid.

Also, many contestants use the AMTC Sponsorship Program to raise funds. Please see the Sponsorship Section of this website for an excellent system that thousands of Contestants have used successfully to pay AMTC tuition and fees. If you do not receive AMTC financial aid and/or you need additional funds, sponsorship may be the answer. We believe that energy, enthusiasm, initiative, and hard work are excellent predictors of success - both in getting sponsorship funds for AMTC as well as subsequent success in the entertainment industry.

On a Godly note, "Faith without works is dead."

Financially challenged individuals and families must also understand that in our dozens of years in business and thousands of success stories, we do not know of any "free rides" in this industry - with the possible exception of a reality TV show (and it’s a bumpy, depressing ride for all but the tiny few who are completely ready). If you receive AMTC financial aid, you will still be responsible for the other expenses listed below to attend AMTC. In addition, if you come to AMTC and receive an offer of representation, you will need money to begin a career. Although professional agencies do not charge a fee to join, you will have other expenses: travel, photography, marketing tools (comp cards, headshots, and/or listing on the agency’s website), and postage are standard.

We believe that you should consider the cost of entering the talent industry as an exploration of your calling from God, as well as an educational investment. What does it cost the average student to go to college? Tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. What are you guaranteed after a four-year investment of time, energy, and money? Nothing. Yes, you may have a degree, but many people do not work within their major, and no career is promised. For a relatively small investment in AMTC, the awards can be substantial!

Here are the rules:

  • An AMTC on line audition application must be submitted, along with a video audition for actors, singers, or dancers and polaroid-style snapshots for models.
  • Financial aid varies in amount; all recipients will still have financial responsibilities. Your AMTC Admissions Representative will discuss the details with you.
  • AMTC training and the AMTC event are priced as a complete package. Your financial responsibility will be the difference between the total cost of the AMTC Package and the amount of the financial aid.
  • Financial aid does NOT include travel to rehearsals or Orlando, a room at the Gaylord Hotel (contestants must stay at the host hotel), the AMTC photo session, a photo in the program book, an awards banquet ticket, extra competitions, or an observer pass. Although professional photos are not required, AMTC recommends them - but only under the guidance of AMTC. (Few photographers understand current New York standards, so do not use any photographer unless his work, prices, and ethics have been approved by an AMTC staff member.) Clothing is not included, but AMTC is not a fashion show. Most contestants already have what they need.
  • Financial Aid Recipients must sign the AMTC Behavior and Ethics Agreement, which pledges good grades in school, a substance free lifestyle, and a commitment to role model behavior. They must also pledge to learn and follow all AMTC competition rules, guidelines, and advice to their best ability.
  • Financial Aid Recipients (or their parents) must pledge the willingness to assist the AMTC staff with an existing class as well as confidentiality, and to be helpful in every possible way during the AMTC training period.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitudes are a must! Contestants and/or parents must be encouraging and helpful to AMTC staff and classmates.
  • Perfect attendance is required.
  • Financial aid cannot be transferred to another person or another event.
